Rudy
“Rudy” is the true story of Daniel E. “Rudy” Ruttieger. His whole life, he was told how he’s too small, or not smart enough. But nothing could defeat his dream to play for the Fighting Irish at Notre Dame.
Set in the 1970’s, this movie focuses on the struggles and achievements of Rudy. With a family who doesn’t support his athletic ambitions, it is almost expected of him to join the local steel mill with his father and brothers. Without good enough grades, he leaves high school only to join the family business. But after a tragic accident, Rudy finds even more determination to achieve his dream. He then departs from his hometown Joliet, Illinois and arrives in South Bend, Indiana. From then on, he goes to any necessary (and sometimes desperate) means to attain admission to Notre Dame. Meanwhile, others point out to Rudy the different goals he has achieved while he can only realize that he’s not getting the results when he thought he would. After much disappointment, Rudy is accepted to Notre Dame and gives his all as a walk-on player for the Fighting Irish. With more heart and determination (and less athletic ability) he earns the respect of legendary coach, Ara Parseghian, ad other players. Even with his own doubts, Rudy soon finds new support and continues on with the Fighting Irish into great victory and an unforgettable reminiscence.
